Autumn is gracefully giving way to winter. With winter, comes a furore of festivities. All of India is bedecking itself to welcome the festive season. It’s time we bring out the festive glow of our skin too.

Radiantly healthy skin, moisturised and protected against the harsh winter breeze is what every woman aims for,  during this time of the year. It’s not hard to guess why! The change in environment, longer nights and smaller days, dietary changes during festivals might cause a host of skincare troubles. Excessive dryness, excessive sebum release, scaly or itchy skin, and acne, dive in to combat these seasonal skin woes.

Up your skincare ante

The holy trinity for skincare is always diet & hydration, sleep and skincare regime. And it is more relevant than ever in the festive season. The importance of a well-balanced diet and water-intake is often neglected in this season. And not to forget, at least 7-8 hours of sound sleep that is essential not just for glowing skin but also for good overall well-being. Of course, when it comes to a skincare regimen, we got you covered with our DIY skincare suggestions for the festive season.

Sandalwood powder is one of the most trusted emollients available naturally. Do make sure you are using good-quality sandalwood powder. The gram flour will act as your exfoliant while the combination of milk cream, honey and rosewater keep the pH balanced. Lemon juice and tomato juice while act as your astringent, imparting the much-needed vitamin C. Sesame seed powder helps reduce skin infections in acne-prone skin. We have tweaked the ingredients based on dry, oily and acne-prone skin for your convenience.

For Dry Skin
Ingredients
Besan- 3 tablespoons
Sandalwood powder- 1 tablespoon
Lemon juice – 1 teaspoon
Honey- 1 tablespoon
Milk cream – 1 tablespoon
Rosewater- 1 teaspoon

For Oily Skin
Ingredients
Besan – 1 tablespoon
Sandalwood powder- 2 tablespoons
Lemon peel powder – 1 tablespoon
Rosewater-1 teaspoon

For Acne-prone skin
Ingredients
Sandalwood powder- 2 tablespoons
Lemon juice – 2-3 tablespoons,
Besan powder-1 tablespoon
Sesame powder – 1 tablespoon
Tomato juice – 1 tablespoon
Rosewater – 1 teaspoon

Blend the ingredients well and apply the paste evenly on your face & neck. Cover your eyes with cotton swabs dipped in rosewater for a cooling effect to your skin.

After 20 mins, rinse it away with warm water. Repeat the face mask at least twice a week for the best results.
